Recently, foreign media Eurogamer released an interview with the development team and producer Liang Qiwei of “Blade of the Shadow”. Liang Qiwei stated in the interview that the development team wants to make “Blade of the Shadow” a playable kung fu movie, while also drawing on the ideas of game development in the 1990s to ensure that the project scale is controllable.

Liang Qiwei also acknowledged that the huge success of “Black Myth: Wukong” last year posed a challenge to “Blade Zero”, but “Blade Zero” aims to continue the glory of “Black Myth: Wukong”. According to statistics, the trailer for “Black Myth: Wukong” has the highest viewership in the Chinese domestic market, but in overseas markets, “Blade of the Shadow” has outperformed it.
Eurogamer stated that the final version of the game will include 30 main weapons and over 20 secondary weapons, all based on historical real weapon prototypes, but incorporating punk style adaptation designs. In addition, S-GAME has also released an “Extreme Difficulty Mode” that will simulate the real combat experience of PVP. This gameplay is designed to meet players’ demand for higher challenges.

So far, ‘Blade of the Shadow’ seems to have performed as well as expected. I tried this game at last year’s Gamescom, and its fast and magnificent battles left a deep impression on me: the protagonist can engage in battles with extremely fast combos, precise dodging and evasion mechanisms, and as long as the timing is right, they can also rotate behind enemies in slow motion to counterattack, which is both refreshing and cinematic.
During GDC, I had the opportunity to challenge a brand new boss battle: Seven Star Sword Formation: Senior Brother.

The character setting of this boss is similar to that of a puppet master, and players must first defeat his junior brother in order to effectively prevent his life from recovering. Meanwhile, I also tried several new weapons showcased in the latest Snake Year trailer.
The first stage of the battle is relatively controllable, but in the second stage, the boss is suspended in the air and its movement design is quite strange. Unlike traditional soul based games, when entering the second stage, the game will automatically save, and even if it fails, there is no need to repeat the first stage, reducing the death penalty. However, this does not mean that the battle is without challenges. Once I mastered the timing of blocking and dodging, the combat experience became exceptionally exciting.
